Golf
Spain is, of course, world famous for its
golf courses, and while there are not as many
in the Costa Daurada as in the south of the
country, what they lack in numbers they make
up for in quality. Just 5 minutes away from
Tres Cales by car is Club de Golf Sant Jordi,
a 9 hole course, while a 25 minute drive will
get you to the impressive Bonmont
Terres Noves club. A little further afield is Club
de Golf Reus.
Fishing
The mighty river Ebro has long been the destination
for those anglers wishing to catch large bags
of carp but in recent years it has also become
known as Europe’s most prolific producer
of sizeable Wells Catfish. The average size
of fish landed is some 69lb, which compares
very favourably with the British rod caught
record of 62lbs. In fact, fish well in excess
of 100 lbs are caught almost on a daily basis,
and in July 2005 a monster of 211lbs was caught
and subsequently safely released! The river
also holds large populations of zander, American
black bass, chub and roach.

For the sea fisherman, the local tackle shops
are the best sources for advice on the
local hotspots, baits, rigs etc.
Other Activities
The local tourist offices offer leaflets and
advice on many other leisure pursuits such
as walking and cycling routes, while other
local activities include canoeing down the
Ebro, quad biking and horse riding.
